Some dishwashers have a built-in water softener to optimize cleaning results. If you live in an area where your water isn't soft (meaning it is mineral rich) then the access minerals in your water can build up and effect the performance of your machine and wash quality. 

Miele recommends using our Water-Softening salt. It dissolves during the cycle and leaves no residue. It prevents harmful lime scale and, most importantly, it protects your dishwasher and dishes.
